Cynthia E. Irvine - Director
Cynthia E. Irvine is a Professor of Computer Science at the Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) where she is the Director of the Center for Information Systems Security Studies and Research. Dr. Irvine received her B.A. degree from Rice University, Houston, TX and her Ph.D. from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH. Professor Irvine has published over 70 papers and reports on her research in computer and network security. She received the Navy Information Assurance Award in 2001, is a senior member of the IEEE and serves on several national boards.

Her information assurance curriculum was the first of its kind in the world and has become a model that all others hold as their exemplar and standard. She founded the CISR Center to house this program, which was selected by the NSA as one of the first nationally recognized models. Her CISR center has established a peerless international reputation as one of the world's leading research centers for information security. Her faculty and students have been active and visible in the research community, with excellence and quality unsurpassed by other centers at civilian universities.
